ABOUT US

The Johnsons

We are Katrina & Scott Johnson: cat parents, metalheads, tattoo addicts, artists, and lovers of all things dark.

We met in 2019, eloped in May 2020, and had our big “official” gothic wedding ceremony on 2-27-22. We have two cats named Dracula and Akasha (“The Vampires”) that are allergic to the sun due to a disease called EPP (read their story here). Additionally, we have two other precocious cats named Artemis and Dash that we’ve nicknamed “The Vultures” for their intense love of food. To see more of our fur babies, check out their Instagram @kats_little_monsters.

Since we purchased our (formerly) all-white Craftsman home in 2021, we’ve been remodeling it to better suit our dark aesthetic style – which is heavily influenced by gothic, Victorian, and medieval architecture and decor. Each room in our home will eventually have a different theme, ranging from vampire to medieval to pirate/Viking to cyber steampunk and more.

If you’re interested in hiring us to design your own lair – whether it be a whole house, bedroom, studio, office, film set, or escape room – please contact us HERE.

This is… The Johnson Lair.

Katrina

Katrina “Kat” Johnson is a director, designer, photographer, model, and military veteran. She’s loved all things creative since she was a little girl, and is fortunate to have a general contractor father who taught her many hands-on skills. She served in the United States Navy for seven years before separating in 2017 to pursue a civilian career in film and television production. Since then, she’s worked as a director/producer on many projects and created multiple online web series and short films.

After graduating from UCLA with her Bachelors degree in 2022, Kat started putting more focus on home design/decor, photography, and modeling. You can connect with her on Instagram at @katrinanightshade, and see more of her photography at @obsidianangelphoto.

A daredevil at heart, Kat has done everything from flying a jet to skydiving. She’s also an avid traveler, with some of her favorite destinations being New Zealand, Thailand, Turkey, and Australia.

Scott

Scott Johnson has been an artist since he was able to hold a crayon. Since 2001, he’s worked as a graphic designer and website builder at a variety of companies. In the past couple years, he’s also been doing concept and storyboard art, designing pitch decks, and creating small animations in Adobe After Effects.

However, Scott’s true passion is doing his own artwork and building worlds for video games and graphic novels. You can find his artwork at Haunted Sketches and see more on Instagram @hauntedsketches. In 2015, Scott self-published his own graphic novel Vestigia, a spooky adventure story about a boy trying to regain his former self. Read more about it here.

Scott, like Kat, loves going on adventures such as white water river rafting, hang gliding, and scuba diving. Some of Scott’s other interests include tattooing, metal music, and video games. You can follow him at @hauntedscott on Instagram.
